Why you need a Save and Continue Option in your Form?

When dealing with large forms that require extensive data input, users often face the issue of not having all the necessary information at hand. This forces them to start over, which is both time-consuming and frustrating.

To address this challenge, we’ve introduced a new add-on: Save and Continue Later. This feature allows users to save their progress and complete the form at their convenience, ensuring a more user-friendly and efficient experience.

How to use the Save and Continue Later form in your Contact form 7? – A Step by Step Guideline

Prerequisites

  • The Save and Continue Later is a pro Add-on of the Ultimate Addons for Contact Form 7 plugin. Ensure you have a valid license and the pro plugin activated. If you don’t have one yet, you can get one from here.
  • Ensure you’ve updated the Ultimate Addons for Contact Form 7 Plugin to version 3.5.1 or higher and the Ultimate Addons for Contact Form 7 Pro Plugin to version 1.8.1 or higher.

Step 1 – Enable the Save and Continue Add-on from Dashboard

To use the Save and Continue Later Add-on, you first need to enable it from the Add-on list. Navigate to Ultimate Addons > All Addons, locate the Add-on, and toggle the button to turn it on.

Step 2 – Enable the Save and Continue Later Form Settings

After enabling the Add-on, navigate to the form where you want to enable the Save and Contine Later feature.

Go to Ultimate Addons > All Forms, locate your desired form, and click on Edit.

Once the edit page loads, go to Ultimate Addons Options > Form Save and Continue and toggle the button to turn it on.

Here are my backend settings,

After enabling the Form Save and Continue option, a Save button will appear next to the Submit button on the front end.

Now, returning to the backend options, after enabling the Save and Continue feature, you’ll notice some new settings fields appear. Let’s discuss these options in detail.

Save & Continue Options

Link Text: This field allows you to set the label for the “Save and Continue Later” button displayed on the form.

Confirmation Page: After clicking the Save and Continue button, users are redirected to a confirmation page. You can customize the message displayed on this page using this field.

Enable Save & Continue Link: The Save and Continue feature offers two options for accessing the saved link: via email or directly on the confirmation page. This setting allows you to display the link on the front end. If turned off, the link will only be sent to the user via email.

Enable Email Notification: Toggle this option to enable or disable email notifications. If turned off, users will not receive the link via email.

Email Notification Message: This option allows you to customize the email content sent to users. You can personalize the message to align with your branding or requirements.

Display Confirmation Message: Customize the confirmation message shown to users after they submit their email for the saved link.

If you don’t modify any Save and Continue settings, the default options will be applied. For this demonstration, I am using the default settings.

Step 3 – Frontend Demonstration of Save and Continue Addon

After completing Step 1 and Step 2, it’s time to demonstrate the full workflow of the Save and Continue Later add-on from the front end.

First, navigate to your desired form, fill in all the required information, and click the “Save and Continue Later” button.

Upon clicking the button, you’ll see an option to copy the link. Below the copy link field, there’s an option to send the link to any desired email address.

Once you enter an email address and click the “Send Link” button, a confirmation message will appear, and the link will be sent to the specified email address.
